PRESS RELEASE:

On January 31, 2025, Santa Rosa Circuit Court Judge Scott Duncan sentenced Elizabeth Jasmine Bradberry to twenty-one years in prison in the Florida Department of Corrections and to be followed by five years of probation. The defendant had previously entered a plea to the Court on two counts of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer in Agency Vehicle with Sirens and Lights Activated at High Speed, Causing Death or Serious Bodily Injury, one count of Vehicular Homicide, and one count of Child Neglect – Causing Great Bodily Harm, Permanent Disability or Permanent Disfigurement.

On July 17, 2022, a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputy observed the defendant driving a vehicle that was reported as stolen. Law enforcement attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle, but the defendant refused to stop, accelerating away from the deputy. Law enforcement broke off the pursuit, but the defendant continued to accelerate, reaching speeds of over one hundred and ten miles per hour. The defendant ultimately struck a vehicle driven by Janie Worthing as Ms. Worthing was attempting to turn into the parking lot of her church for Sunday services. Ms. Worthing was killed in the crash and a minor child in the defendant’s vehicle was severely injured.

The arrest and investigation were conducted by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol. Assistant State Attorney Mark Alderman prosecuted the case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida.
