PRESS RELEASE
(Escambia County, Florida). On March 12, 2025, Rumariya Armoni Union was sentenced to serve 15 years in state prison by Circuit Judge Amy Brodersen. Union was sentenced to the maximum penalty allowed after entering a plea to the court on one count of Accessory After the Fact to a Felony.
This case arose from a homicide that occurred on March 14, 2024 at Gonzalez Court Apartments. Law enforcement arrived on scene and found a 15-year-old gunshot victim. The victim was later pronounced deceased. Witnesses identified Remington Crumbs as the shooter and that Union was on scene with Crumbs. After the shooting, Union took the murder weapon into her apartment and hid it in a backpack. Union admitted to law enforcement that she had taken the firearm to prevent Crumbs from getting into trouble. A search warrant was executed at Union’s residence and the murder weapon was recovered.
Prosecuting attorney, Ms. Carrie Gilmer stated during sentencing, “Ms. Union later made a statement that she took the gun away to prevent further harm. It was too little too late at that point. The damage was already done. Her co-defendant tragically and senselessly ended the life of someone way too soon. Then, Union tried to help cover that up and prevent law enforcement from bringing the killer to justice.”
The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Pensacola Police Department and Assistant State Attorney, Carrie Gilmer prosecuted this case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida. The co-defendant, Remington Crumbs, is charged with 2nd Degree Murder and his next court date is set for April 30, 2025. For further information, please contact Ms. Gilmer at 850-595-4500.
