Derrell Roman Sentenced to 60 Years for Fentanyl Trafficking & Other Charges – Robert Little, Assistant State Attorney

PRESS RELEASE

(Escambia County, Florida) On October 30, 2025, Derrell Roman was sentenced to 60 years in state prison by the Honorable Judge John F. Simon Jr. for Trafficking in Fentanyl (Over 28 grams), Attempted Aggravated Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Sale, Manufacture, or Deliver a Controlled Substance, and two counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. During sentencing, Judge Simon took note of the Defendant’s extensive criminal history and the dangerousness of the Defendant’s actions. 

In February 2024, the Defendant fled from law enforcement while exceeding speeds of ninety miles per hour in Escambia County, Florida. The vehicle pursuit ended when the Defendant lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a car wash off of Mobile Highway. Following a brief foot pursuit, deputies were able to detain the Defendant. Law Enforcement recovered over seventy grams of fentanyl from the Defendant’s backpack. The Defendant was subsequently booked into the Escambia County Jail.
