PRESS RELEASE

(Escambia County, Florida) On April 8, 2026, Circuit Court Judge John Miller sentenced Dominique Fountain to thirty-one years in state prison.

On February 2, 2025, Dominique Fountain got into an argument with his wife, Heather Fountain, upon seeing a text message on his wife’s phone from an unknown phone number. That argument led to a physical altercation during which Mr. Fountain stabbed his wife with a large knife over fifty times all over her body. Two large knives were ultimately found near his wife’s body as she lay in the street; the blade on one of the knives had been broken off from its handle. Mr. Fountain fled the scene following the stabbing, leaving his wife bleeding out on the side of the road. A passerby saw Heather Fountain while he was driving to work and stopped to assist her. Law enforcement responded to the scene soon thereafter.

Mr. Fountain was ultimately charged with one count of Attempted First Degree Premeditated Murder and one count of Violation of a Pretrial Release Condition for a Domestic Violence Charge. Mr. Fountain entered a plea to the charge of Violation of a Pretrial Release Condition on October 27, 2025. As to the charge of Attempted First Degree Premeditated Murder, a jury trial was held on October 30, 2025, and the jury convicted Mr. Fountain of the lesser-included offense of Attempted Manslaughter by Act with a Weapon.

A bifurcated proceeding was held on January 20, 2026. On that date, the jury found that Mr. Fountain qualifies as a Habitual Felony Offender under Florida law.

Mr. Fountain was subsequently sentenced by the Court as a Habitual Felony Offender on April 8, 2026.

The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Pensacola Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Allison McKenzie and Assistant State Attorney Frederick V. Longmire prosecuted the case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida. For further information, please contact Ms. McKenzie at 850-595-4200.
