Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, announced that on March 10, 2025 the Honorable Clifton Drake sentenced Damian McGowan to 30 years in state prison as a habitual felony offender.
On October 23, 2023 the defendant committed domestic violence on his partner where he struck her multiple times and strangled her. The victim sustained lacerations that required sutures.
The defendant has an extensive criminal history and has previously been to prison for a violent felony offense.
The investigation was conducted by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Department. The Assistant State Attorney Kari Garrett prosecuted the case. Any questions may be directed to the State Attorney’s Office at (850) 595-5500.
