(Escambia County, Florida) On July 29, 2026, Circuit Court Judge John Miller sentenced Terrence Franklin to life in state prison. Franklin was found guilty by a jury of Attempted Second-Degree Murder with a Firearm and Aggravated Assault by Threat with a Deadly Weapon on May 28, 2026.
On Christmas morning in 2024, members of law enforcement were called to Baptist Hospital after a gunshot wound victim arrived. Shortly after speaking to witnesses, law enforcement learned that Terrence Franklin threatened his family with a shotgun before shooting his wife twice– once in the leg and once in the chest. Deputies responded to the family residence where they recovered the shotgun shells used in the shooting. Franklin fled the scene with the firearm before law enforcement arrived.
The arrest and investigation were conducted by the Pensacola Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
