Edgar Enrique Nunez Sentenced – Assistant State Attorney Christine Bosau

PRESS RELEASE

(Okaloosa County, Florida), On February 3, 2025, Edgar Enrique Nunez was sentenced by Circuit Judge David Oberliesen to 25 years in state prison followed by 20 years on Sex Offender Probation with a GPS monitor. He was also designated a Sexual Predator and will be required to register as such for life. The Defendant was sentenced after pleading to Sexual Battery while in a Position of Custodial or Parental Authority and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation of a Victim 12–15 years old.

The defendant sexually abused the then 13 yoa victim while she was living in his home. The sexual abuse occurred while the victim’s mother was at work and the defendant was caring for the child. The victim did not initially disclose because the defendant had threatened her and told her not to tell anyone. The defendant’s criminal actions came to light when the mother of the victim observed him leaving her daughter’s room late at night. After the child disclosed sexual abuse, law enforcement was contacted, and the child was taken to the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center for a forensic interview.

The investigation was conducted by the Crestview Police Department, Air Force Office of Special Investigations and Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center.
