PRESS RELEASE
State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden announced that on April 23, 2025, 40-year-old Andre Martelly Tarlton was sentenced to 25 years state prison after he was convicted by a jury on February 12, 2025, of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon under the Florida 10-20-LIFE statute.
Additionally, the jury found that the defendant qualified for a Habitual Felony Offender sentencing enhancement, which made the defendant eligible for a sentence up to 30 years. Judge Linda Nobles presided over the jury trial and sentencing hearing and stated while imposing the sentence, “Mr. Tarlton, you have one of the worst criminal records that I have ever seen with 18 felony convictions and 13 misdemeanor convictions. At nearly 40 years old, you have spent a year incarcerated for nearly every year of your adult life.”
During an investigation, the defendant was seen driving a stolen vehicle and was apprehended after exiting the vehicle. A firearm was found under the driver’s side floor mat of the stolen vehicle. The defendant is a convicted felon and his DNA was located on the firearm.
The joint investigation was conducted by investigators at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and detectives at the Pensacola Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Ki Misora McInnis prosecuted the underlying case and represented the State of Florida. For further information, please contact the State Attorney’s Office at 850-595-4200.
