Rachiel Moore Guilty of First-Degree Premeditated Murder and Tampering with Evidence – Assistant State Attorney, Mark Alderman

PRESS RELEASE

On April 24, 2025, a Santa Rosa County jury found Rachiel Moore guilty of First Degree Premeditated Murder and Tampering with Evidence. Santa Rosa Circuit Court Judge Clifton Drake immediately sentenced Rachiel Moore to life without parole in state prison.

On March 19, 2023, Colby Vinson was shot and killed by Rachiel Moore’s former stepfather, Jason Curtis, outside Mr. Vinson’s apartment as Mr. Vinson was unloading his groceries after arriving home with his four-year-old daughter. Mr. Vinson had been granted shared custody of the child by a judge earlier that week. The investigation revealed that Rachiel Moore, the mother of the minor child, communicated with her former stepfather Jason Curtis all week in reference to Curtis driving down from Alabama to kill Colby Vinson. Rachiel Moore paid Curtis gas money to make the trip and provided all of Colby’s personal information for Jason Curtis to identify, locate, and murder Colby Vinson.

The arrest and investigation were conducted by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Mark Alderman prosecuted the case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida. For more information, please contact Mr. Alderman at (850) 981-5500.
