Donald Sprinkle Sentenced – ASA Bennett Traylor

PRESS RELEASE
(Escambia County, Florida), On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the Honorable Circuit Judge Jennie Kinsey sentenced Donald Gene Sprinkle to four concurrent life sentences for violation of probation.

On April 18, 2005, the Defendant was sentenced to 23 years state prison followed by 2 years of sex offender probation for multiple counts of lewd or lascivious molestation. The Defendant served a lengthy portion of his incarceration before being release on supervision. During a home visit, probation officers discovered a photograph of a nude, adolescent boy on the Defendant’s cell phone. The Defendant’s probation was violated for possession of the image.

At the VOP hearing, the child victim from the original charges was present and spoke about how the incident had negatively impacted his life. Assistant State Attorney Bennett Traylor argued that the defendant’s original crimes were committed against someone whom he had a close relationship
with, and the victim was also a member of one of the most vulnerable classes of people, children. Mr. Traylor argued that the possession of the explicit image shows that the Defendant was not rehabilitated and that he continues to present a danger to society.

Assistant State Attorney Bennett Traylor prosecuted this case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit of Florida.
